Celtic Horse Pin | Epona Brooch
Crafted in Fine Pewter this brooch is 1 3/4" (44 mm) in diameter. It show three horses intertwined with Celtic knot-work.
Horses were prized possession among the Celtic people. They were status symbols, well cared for, treasured and treated with great respect. The Celts were know in the ancient world as great horsemen.
The Celtic goddess Epona was the protector of horses, donkeys, and mules.
How we make this brooch:
Pewter is heated to 650 degrees. Once it reaches that temperature the metal is completely liquid. The pewter is then poured into a spinning rubber mold to form the piece.
They then go through a vibratory finishing process.
The pin is hand soldered to the back.
Lastly, each one is hand buffed to a warm satin finish. All that is done in Boise Idaho. Stop by and we'll show you how we do it.
