A Pirate's Piece of Eight button made in fine pewter. It is 1 3/8 inches (35mm) at the widest point. We made a mold of an actual coin and then made it into a button, so you get detail both front and back.

I was told that many pirates made coins into buttons so they could keep their treasure with them at all times. I made our piece of eight button with a shank, but I think this is probably the way a pirate would have made his button. Just punch holes into the coin.

This will be a great accessory to any pirate costume, and you won't find a button like this in the notions section at Joann's. All of our products are made in Boise Idaho.
